At our CrossFit gym in Somerville, MA, testing your fitness is not only about competition. It is about growth. It is about seeing what your training is building. It is about stepping outside your comfort zone and learning what you are capable of in a supportive environment.
That testing can happen in a lot of ways. For some members, it happens during the CrossFit Open. For others, it happens through HYROX races, a local strongman competition, or our own annual in-house competition at Commonwealth CrossFit. No matter the format, these moments help bring your fitness into focus.

One of the best things about CrossFit is that it develops fitness across multiple areas at once. At Commonwealth CrossFit, our programs include CrossFit group training, personal training, HYROX training, and Programing for 55+, all designed to help members build a complete fitness foundation for life.
When you test your fitness, you get to see how those pieces come together.

Our Annual In-House Competition
If you are looking for a fun and accessible way to test your fitness, our upcoming in-house competition is the perfect opportunity.
What: A friendly members-only CrossFit competition
Who: All members are encouraged to participate. Even if you do not fit neatly into a division, we will modify just like class.
When: Saturday, April 18th at 9:00 AM through early afternoon
Where: Commonwealth CrossFit
Cost: Free

There will be three scored events on the day, and we hope you will join us!

Division suggestions
Rx
- You Rx most workouts in class
- You can do some volume of common gymnastics skills like pull-ups and toes to bar
- You can do common weightlifting movements for reps at standard loads like 135/95 on the bar or 50/35 for dumbbells
Scaled
- You modify most workouts in class
- You can do common gymnastics skills with fewer reps or modified versions
- You can do common weightlifting movements at lighter loads

Not Competing? Volunteer
Our in-house competition also depends on volunteers. Volunteers help with setup, judging, score collection, and keeping the day running smoothly. If you want to be part of the event, you can register and choose volunteer as your division.
